Certified by the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME)

Dr. Lawrence Paule is one of a few licensed chiropractors who are certified by NRCME. The National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (National Registry) is a new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) program. It requires all medical examiners (MEs) who wish to perform physical examinations for interstate commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers to be trained and certified in FMCSA physical qualification standards. Medical examiners who have completed the training and successfully passed the test are included in an online directory on the National Registry website.

Arizona DOT Physical Exam for CDL

It is mandated by federal guidelines that all commercial drivers pass the DOT physical exam. The goal of this exam is to check whether an applicant is fit enough to drive safely at the present time as well as in the foreseeable future. Passing the exam successfully usually means you only have to take the exam in 24 months’ time, although in some cases, this period might be shortened in case serious health issues appear in the future.

DOT CDL Physical Requirements

Passing the DOT CDL physical will require the following considerations:

Special vision conditions are allowed by use of federal form MCSA-5870

Able to distinguish colors found on traffic signals

Able to perceive a forced whisper at a distance of at least five feet

Has a maximum allowable blood pressure of 140/90; use of prescription medication to achieve this threshold is allowed

Should have controlled diabetes through diet or medication (insulin injections are permitted by inclusion of the federal form MCSA-5871)

Controlled blood sugar level

Use of Schedule I drugs is not allowed
